Production starts with steaming of the rattan. Upon cleansing after the harvest time, rattan poles need to be heated up in order to soften them, allowing for bending and shaping. The fibres in the rattan core go supple when the rattan poles are steamed for fifteen minutes. A simple procedure, really, to begin the making of Sch?tz fine rattan furniture.
